The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald | Book Review

It’s an emotionally packed domestic suspense thriller novel where one mother goes many length to discover the truth behind how her daughter became brain dead. And pregnant.

Genre: Suspense-thriller
Type: Standalone
Age limit: 18+
Rating: ⭐⭐½

My Thoughts:

At midnight, Abi Night got call from police that is every mother’s nightmare. Her seventeen year daughter Olivia fallen off a bridge. Not only she is declared brain dead but she must keep on life support until she delivered her unborn child. But bruises on her lifeless daughter tell a different story.

But then police ruled this case as an accident which unsettled Abi. She can’t rest until the truth behind the night Olivia fell reveal. She follows the clues and unravels the life of her teenage daughter. Was Olivia’s fall was truly accident or result of something sinister?

It’s really wonder, how I finished this book. Usually, I have a very bad habit of leaving the book in middle. The only thing that saved this book was the amazing writing of author. The plot was super predictable and little bit overused. Nothing was new in there.

The story jump from past to present, this is my favourite narrative style. I really like the portrayal of Abi, a mother who is feral when it comes to protect her child. Christina is a good writer and this book was written well. But the book was not really good. It was really mediocre. But I’m looking forward to author’s other book because she has really potential.
