 My Thoughts:

Camille Preaker, an ordinary crime reporter from Chicago, US is sent to cover the story of missing and murder story of two little girls from her hometown Windgap. This is her only chance to get that groundbreaking cover story for her average newspaper and also to prove herself that she is really good at doing her job.

But the thing is she hadn’t step in Windgap for last eight years. When she is going back to her town unsolved crime is not the only thing that is waiting for her. She is going to share house with her mother Adora Crelline. They don’t have normal mother-daughter relationship. On the other hand, there is her teenager half-sister who is like stranger to her.

After only few days, she found herself tangled in murder of these two girls who were not supposed to be good children. Each has their own share of problems which may have been triggered to their demise. But Camille is also getting lost in her toxic family drama which leads to the old battles of self-harm.

And soon she will realize that this supposed groundbreaking report may cost her own life.

This book is so incredible. This was the first book of author that I have read. It did pass my expectations. Not only the murder mystery is good but the detailed expression of trauma that Camille had deals in her childhood is haunting. The experience of this book was so realistic. This book will haunt you to the core. Also, the twist at the end I did not see coming. If you are fan of hard-core crime-thriller fan, you should definitely try this book.
