The Silent Patient By Alex Michaelides | Book Review

The Silent Patient is debut novel of British-Cypriot author Alex Michaelides. It is one best-selling psychological thriller of 2019.

Genre : Psychological-thriller
Type : Standalone
Age limit : 18+
Rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐

My Thoughts :

This story revolve around Alicia Benson. She is a famous painter who lived in London in a really big house with her fashion photographer husband Gabriel. They have this perfect married life that everyone envied.

But one day, there picture perfect life tainted with tragedy when Alicia shot her husband in face and killed him. When police found them, Alicia was covered in blood with a gun that she used to kill her husband. She never admitted the crime nor denied it. In fact, she never utter a single word after that. Once the beautiful woman with with bright future, now became a "The Silent Patient".

Now come our narrator, who tell us this fascinating story. That is Theo Gerber. As a psychotherapist, he is intrigued by her story. He want to help her and also want to became the person that will make Alicia speak. He got a job in Groove Psychiatric  Hospital where Alicia is kept. But how will he help her when patient had not spoken in last six years?

This is really crazy story. It was indeed a good psychological thriller. And, twist at the end, wow! The main character of this story is Alicia who by the way is really interesting one. She has been charismatic woman but after this incident become one of the mystery. I loved her multi-layered character. Then there is Theo, he is somewhat obsessed with her not in stalker sense. But to treat her, he goes tp the length to know everything about her life.

Everyone knows that Alicia killed Gabriel. But why? It the biggest question in book. Answer of this, is not that simple. This book is written very well.  It does what a good thriller book promise to do. If you are a person who loves good murder-mystery book. This one is for you.
