My Thoughts :

My heart did skip a beat when I read this amazing creepy book Home Before Dark. Especially, because I like horror story with haunted house. It was perfect read for me. It hooked me from start.

This book was so creepy; it has all elements of good horror book. It include big old Victorian era mansion with terribly history of accidents and really bad reputation in town.

Every house has a story to tell.

Story begins with Holt family when they purchased this big house named Baneberry Hall. Unknown to the unpleasant past of the house, they shift there in hope of the fresh start. But after just some days their five year daughter Maggie starts to experience some unusual things. They spent three weeks there before fleeing in the dead of night leaving their all belonging in Baneberry Hall. This whole experience with Baneberry Hall was turned into super hit book by Mr. Holt which turned into super hit horror book.

When you stare into the abyss, the abyss also stares into you.

Now after 25 years adult Maggie is faced with weird situation, when her late father left Baneberry Mansion solely to her in his will. She doesn’t recall anything related to haunted house or any ghost for that matter. She had grown into a shadow of girl from haunted house. She felt betrayed by her parents when she doesn’t get any answer regarding her childhood experience. To search her longing answer Maggie decided to find answer on her own. Finally, she thought to visit this famous Baneberry Hall. But Baneberry Hall seems to be enveloped by layers of mysteries that Maggie didn’t expected to find.

This book was pretty good. The writing of author was simple and easy to read. It griped you in its mystery from first page. It is more king of mystery-thriller than horror. It is creepy though. I liked it. This book is perfect for beginners. If you wanted to try some light hearted creepy, horror book then Home Before Dark by Relay Sager is your book!
